Faiq’s Favourite Songs

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Faiq is somewhat influenced by his Mama listening to the radio whenever we’re in the car and I believe these are his favourite songs, judging by the way he protested (NAAAAAAAK!!! …or just plain screaming will do the trick!) each time I switch to another radio station when these songs are on air:

1. Maroon 5’s Makes Me Wonder

2. Gym Class Heroes’ Cupid’s Chokehold

3. Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend

Hmmm..anak mama sorang nih..

Lawatan Sambil Belajar ke Melaka Bandaraya Bersejarah

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Yesterday, the whole bunch of us from KWP (particularly from Bhgn. Pembangunan) went for a lawatan sambil belajar (note: not work visit) to Malacca, the Historical City to learn more about the mechanism of selling low cost houses from both Lembaga Perumahan Negeri and Majlis Bandaraya Bersejarah. We left Putrajaya at about 11 a.m. and I read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone throughout the journey. Had lunch at MITC before proceeding to Seri Negeri. Met Alin, my DPA course mate, dengar briefing by TSUK Melaka and was flattered and beaming with pride when I saw this hanging on the wall:

Dsc00144

We left for Graha Maju, the office of Majlis Bandaraya Melaka Bersejarah, dengar taklimat by the Secretary of the Council, met another DPA coursemate and left at about 6 p.m. Reached home at about 8.45 p.m., just in time to angkat kain jemuran, boil water and watch Heroes, which will end next week…sob, sob.

Geez, now I have to pack for my one day trip to Labuan! Sigh…

Me + Frog Prince = Hell Break Lose

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Some people are scared of rats, some despise cockroaches, lizards…the first thing on my "geli list" would be frogs/toads. Whether it’s dead, alive, in a photograph…G.E.L.I!! Kalau in a cartoon form like the one in Kipper or the Muppets..I can stomach laa but the rest…NO!!!! I think my phobia started when we were in Melaka. We were staying in a huge government quarters and the first thing I would see lepaking at any corners would be frog/toad. Sometimes when you are happily doing your "business" it would make an appearance at some holes in the bathroom. There was even a time it was upstairs and my dad just swept it in a dustpan, opened the window and threw it out where the last thing heard was a "splat" sound!! My encounters with "them" thankfully became less when I moved to D.U.

I think it’s true what Raz said, when we are scared of something, we would be the one catching a glimpse of it. Raz is not fond of cats and yet of all the people in the house, my cats would target Raz as "mangsa sondol"…hehehe. When I was in my mother in-law’s house I would be the one spotting the katak pisang on the wall. Nasib baik ada Dik, dia tuh bukan penggeli so he managed to catch it using the huge Harrod’s tin biscuit..hahaha!!

Recently I attended a BTN cfourse in Ulu Sepri and of all the places, this katak pisang targeted to "melekat" near my towel. Thank God there was Kak Anne, who was immune to "geliness" (dia lagi terrer dari Dik!), she helped me removed my towel, grabbed the katak pisang with her bare hands and threw it out. She did that TWICE and even swept a huge katak puru near a toilet (for someone who is totally geli of them, I do know a lot about their species and types!). We were totally amazed with Kak Anne (in the form of screaming!). Kak Anne…you are our HERO!!

My comfort zone of thinking I wouldn’t encounter these creatures dashed when I saw one in my house compound and even attempted to invite itself into my house. Yeah, it’s just a tiny frog but COME ON!!! NOT MY HOUSE!!

Makes Me Wonder

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Exactly one month ago, I had to attend a meeting on Saturday at 3-6 p.m. in KL. Yesterday, I attended a meeting which started at 9 p.m. and ended about 11.45 p.m. And I wondered, geez, which was worst: having to sacrifice your weekend or spending the first day of work working till midnight??! Both were like nightmares actually!!

Felt a pang of sadness when I came back and saw Rafiq and Faiq sleeping. Faiq was sleeping when I left him in the morning and was already asleep when I came back. I think he sleeps more now. ormally he will be wide awake during our morning trip to Dadima’s but he’s been slepping for the past two days. Semalam kelakar jugak coz dia tido sambil berdiri dalam kereta. Wonder where he got that from..hahahaha!!

These songs are playing over and over again while I’m doing my work. I just hope my room mate, Amy, is not bored to death listening to them :o)

1. James Morrison’s You Give Me Something & The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore

2. Toploader’s Dancing in the Moonlight (which reminds me of Jamie Oliver coz it was featured in the Naked Chef when he cooked for his sister’s party)

3. Al Greene’s Ain’t No Sunshine When She’s Gone (Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts in Notting Hill)

4. Anwar Robinson’s AI4 auditions- Sugar Pie Honey Bunch, You Are The Sunshine of My Life and Moon River

5. Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas is You (Yeah, I know it’s not Christmas..but this song is fit to be played all year long! Reminds me of Colin Firth in Love Actually!)

6. Elvis Costello’s She (Notting Hill lagi!!)

7. Gwen Stefani’s Sweet Escape

8. Beyonce’s Irreplaceable

9. My Bestfriend’s Wedding’s Cast singing I Say A Little Prayer for You (Julia Roberts juga!)

10. Lauren Wood’s Fallen (teringat masa Richard Gere bawak Julia Roberts tengok Opera and the famous line she said in the elevator, "In case I forget to tell you, I had a great time tonight.") :o)

11. After 7’s Ready or Not

12. Michael Buble’s Everything

13. Maroon 5’s Makes Me Wonder

14. Misha Omar’s Dedebu Cinta

OK BACK TO WORK!!

Faiq and Zafeera’s Day of Fun!!!

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

I was on leave last Thursday as Rafiq was flying off to Bali for a conference. I ended up going to the office with Faiq for about 2 hours as I had to finish up some minutes for distribution that day. Faiq slept in the car on the way to Damansara and we waited until he woke up to go to Mid Valley. There were four of us: myself, Dhirah, Faiq and Feera. The initial plan was to bring them to Thomas and Friends Fair there but it had already ended. Went to MPH to purchase some books for Feera (as they berebut for books in the car!) but the ones I intended to buy were too expensive. Had to leave MPH when the two little rascals started running around so we ended up taking them for rides..you know the ones where we insert RM1/RM2 in the shopping mall. Both of them are actually scared of these rides..I wouldn’t say scared..maybe nervous as the things started to move but since ada geng, both tried to act macho (noticed the "I’m not scared" look) and ended up enjoying the ride.

Dsc00141

We were only there for two hours because things were getting too hard to manage and we left for Bangsar Village. Unfortunately, the Thomas Fair was not there either (I was just there on Saturday!!) so we ended up bringing them to Toys R Us for a while. Used  "cloudy sky and it’s going to rain" as a reason to lure them back to the car before Faiq and Feera decided on camping at Toys R Us. It was a fun day for all of us even though Dhiarh and I were flat dead that night!!

Full Blast Weekend

Monday, June 4th, 2007

It’s been a while since my weekend was fully occupied. It started since Friday actually. After we came back from DBKL, I drove to Kajang, fetched Faiq and drove him to Damansara as we were spending the night there. Before that, I forgot to mention that whilst I was so eager to gloat to Rafiq that I was listening to PM’s speech live, he too bragged about performing Friday prayers, snapping a photo and shaking hands with the YANG DIPERTUAN AGONG!! No fair..DOES IT HAVE TO BE ON THE SAME DAY??! Hahahaah!

Anyway, when I came back from the meeting, Faiq was asleep and he slept right till 9 p.m. and I was thinking, "OMG! Pukul brapa nak tido balik nih??!" He ended up sleeping at about 1 a.m. The next day, my sisters and I got ready for our picnic at Isi Rimba. I supposed Rafiq went on and on and on about it to his family that they decided to check it out. This time around, we got a bigger place as everone was there. The whole Akbar Khans lot were there (+ 2 maids makes 19 of us) and we were also joined by extended families like my 2 sisters, Kakaji, Mok Su Bi, Jemi and Nasir, Cu, Uncle Latif and Azeem, Kak Eja and Wawa and also Dang, Aya and Laila, who were my classmates back in UiTM.Bawaboladalamsudu  First it was berendam, then it was cake cutting time as we were also there to celebrate Dik and Azeem’s birthdays, then it was berendam again, then we ate (prepared by Isi Rimba people..all we had to do was pay!!), then we played games which consist of three-legged race, cari gula-gula dalam tepung, tiup belon, isi air dalam botol, bawa bola dgn sudu…we had an excellent time. There was a time when I remembered laughing so hard, I don’t even know what it was all about. After the games Faiq fell asleep so we continued berendam until it was time to leave. Kudos to the organisers for a well done event and I’m pretty sure this is not the last time we are seeing Isi Rimba.

Img_0109I sent my sisters home, dozed off for a while and then went off to Bangsar Village to meet up with Raz, Leeya and Norris. I haven’t seen them since Leeya left for Singapore in January so that’s like almost six months. It was nice and it’s always a pleasure meeting up with old friends. As usual we talked about what’s going on with our lives and our meeting session will not be complete without gossips and insulting each other. Hehehe! I reached home at about 11 p.m.Img_0111

Sunday was the day my MSM clan have been waiting for. It’s been the topic of our forum for the past 2-3 weeks. It’s our rombongan Cik Kiah to Iderk’s wedding in Batu Pahat. Although the rombongan consist of only me and Dang, we were glad we made the trip. Before the trip, I went back to my house from Kajang to take my baju kurung for the kenduri. I took in for granted that my house keys are in my car all the time..but the problem was, I WAS DRIVING PAPA’s CAR SO I WENT BACK TO AD WITHOUT MY HOUSE KEYS = BIMBO ACT!! Itik_iderks_wedding_030607_007 Luckily I had some nice blouse at home..even if I had to wear pants to Iderk’s wedding, it’s better than wearing my birthday suit, right??! Anyway, we left for Batu Pahat at about 11 a.m. and reached there at about 2.30 p.m. We were practically ready to eat a horse. Funny thing happened..we couldn’t find Iderk’s house at first so when we saw someone outside their house, we stopped by to ask directions. Little did we know that the couple were mute. When we arrived, the bersanding ceremony was over and she just came out for the makan ceremony. Iderk She looked very beautiful and elegant in her pink dress and her make up was excellent. We snapped a few photos, ate and went inside to see the pelamin and her room. We stayed on until she cut the wedding cake, went into her room again (where I was forced to lift the trails of her dress when she said, "Khadam, angkat kain!! Note: she was lucky it was her wedding day!) and chatted for a while. We left Batu Pahat at about 4.30 p.m. and reached Kajang at 9.30 p.m…thanks to the long stretch of traffic from Ayer Keroh to Nilai :op

Wished I applied for leave on Monday. Thanks Dang for making the trip with me. I enjoyed our heart to heart talk (we haven’t had that in ages!) and the company!!

So I Listen to the Radio..and all the songs I used to know..Part II

Monday, June 4th, 2007

I was rushing home to "angkat kain jemuran" this afternoon and managed to catch these songs..

1. "When you’re near me I can’t help but see forever,

Come and rescue me tonight,

Baby, don’t make me wait for love this time,

Oh darling, a love like this is hard to find,

Don’t make me wait for love…"

-Michael Bolton’s Don’t Make Me Wait For Love (duet with Kenny G)

2. "Any other fool would never walk away,

Even a fool would still be there holding you,

Any other fool would know I never should’ve let you go

I had it all as any fool could see,

Any other fool but me…"

-Patty Austin’s Any Other Fool (duet with Sadao Watanabe)

3. "Believe it or not, I’m walking on air,

I never thought I could feel so free,

Flying away on a wings and a prayer,

Who could it be,

Believe it or not, it’s just me…"

-Mike Post and Stephen Geyer’s Believe It Or Not (OST Greatest American Hero)

4. "Close your eyes, give me your hand darling,

Do you feel my heart beating? Do you understand?

Do you feel the same?

Am I only feeling?

Is this burning an eternal flame…"

-The Bangles’ Eternal Flame

There was also this song which I heard which sounded like it’s by Bananarama. It goes like this, "But you’ll never sto me from loving you, It doesn’t really matter what you put me through, You’ll never stop me from loving you…" I’m guessing the song is entitled You’ll Never Stop Me From Loving You. I’ll google it later :o)

Stressful Week

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

I can’t even remember how it started. I think it started with SWIP. Of course I am not an active member of any AJKs but I helped out as much as I could. Was present during the 2 days rehearsal. Yeah, I did dissapear for a while to ride on Eye On Malaysia only to deliver 30 tshirts, track bottoms, caps, banners and buntings at the Cheras Swimming Complex. Since Wednesday, I’ve been coming home to a sleeping Faiq at 11 p.m. On Friday when SWIP was officiated, on my way back home I received a phone call saying that I had to attend a meeting in KL on Saturday. So I was in KL from 3 - 6 p.m. whilst Rafiq managed to catch Pirates of the Carribean 3. Sigh. I was also at the office on Sunday from 11.30 a.m. to about 6 p.m. whilst Rafiq and Faiq had a splish splash at Lachik’s condo :o( That night before I fell asleep, I knew something bad was going to happen the day after.

As predicted, I had to become a typist for a Nota Kabinet which was almost ready but needed amendments and was due on 11.30 a.m. for the Minister. Even before that, I knew that it has to be submitted to Bahagian Kabinet on Monday itself. So there we were sitting in front of "She Who Must Not Be Named", fuming mad, gritting our teeths and rolling our eyes whenever she tries to act like a smart alec. After a mentally and emotionally drained day, we managed to submit it to the relevant body at 7 p.m. I nearly gave up when there were some flaws in my annexures but luckily they were accepted and after several amendments and a lot of paper folding, we left JPM at about 10 p.m. Had dinner with my colleagues and arrived home at 11 p.m. I can’t remember what happened the following days but I know that I started early from home on Friday to catch the bus to DBKL for PM’s visit to KL. I gleefully smile as I heard of a major screw up by "She Who Must Not Be Named"..and thought to myself, "Next time, mind your own business, will ya??!" Tried to stay awake during the speech and before I knew it, I was already at the office, getting ready to transport Faiq from Kajang to D.U, before heading for a 3 p.m. meeting at PBD.

Looking forward for a full blast weekend!!

A Week That Was..

Friday, June 1st, 2007

As my fridge was full of seafood since I came back from Labuan, I decided to cook for the Khans that weekend. Except for New Year when I invited both families over for dinner, I have never actually cooked for a large amount of people. There’s always a first time.

Went to Econsave to purchase more chicken and prawns. Came back at about 12 and could only start cooking after Faiq fell asleep. Although lunch turned out to be hi-tea when food was only served at about 3 p.m., I think everyone enjoyed my sweet sour prawns, seafood tomyam, mixed veggie, fried chicken and steamed kerapu. Yippee!!

Dscf8460

The next day, we attended the Royal 8th Family Day at Isi Rimba. It’s located behind Zoo Negara and a popular spot amongst those who fish. The road was narrow and I was surprised that there’s more beyond Zoo Negara. It was a picnic place where you pay for a private space of your own and food along Kemensah River. We were the first to arrive and was surprised to see so many activities going on like a birthday party etc. We searched for a roasted lamb and licked our lips when we saw the sinfully delicious and beautiful roast. We dipped in the river andDscf8463  shivered at the coldness of the water. Then one by one, Rafiq’s friend started to arrive and we were having a splashing time :o)

Dscf8501 This is the normal routine whenever the Rebellicas met. They forget about their wives and kids!! No lar, of course I’m exaggerating but they will totally engulf into a world of their own, leaving the wives to bond. Dscf8497 It is a good thing really coz we get to gossip about them..hehehe! Throughout the years, they remained as a band of brothers and that’s something the wives can never take away from them. 20 years ago, they depended on each other, their friendship grew far beyond that..they’re practically family and I know that my husband could count on any of them and they’d definitely be there in our time of need.

Dscf8482

We left Isi Rimba at about 4.30 p.m. after the boys played paintball. Tired but content! I will definitely visit the place again!

The following Tuesday, I was de"ma-am"ed as we handed over Lina back to the agent. Besides her annoying behaviours and the fact that she cannot handle Faiq, it was a pity because she’s excellent where cleaning and gardening is concerned. I cannot help but felt sorry for her because she is one of those few that genuinely wants to work to support her family back home. Oh well, I hope the next one will be better!
