This Was How 2006 Ended: Part I - Christmas Weekend

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

My Christmas weekend started with a nasi lemak breakfast at Bandar Tun Hussein Onn and groceries shopping at Econsave. After putting Faiq to sleep, I had my first lesson of cutting poultry from Rafiq. Had lunch at Kajang and then headed to Damansara to pick up Dhirah and Amy who will be spending a night at AD prior to our PD trip on Sunday. Amy arrived at Taman bahagia LRT station at about 9 p.m. and since she hadn’t had dinner, we stopped by KFC near Jalan Elmu. While waiting for our order, we saw this lady who was holding a small baby and she looked as if she was still in confinement and we were all kutuk’ing’ her saying that she should’ve just stayed and home and ask her husband to take away if she is indeed craving for KFC. As she came nearer and after much kutuk’ing’ only did Rafiq realised that that woman was his classmate in USM. So they chatted for a while because we were still waiting for our food. Reached home at about 10.30 and watched Gilmore Girls whilst Rafiq put Faiq to sleep. After GG, I went down to make some preparation for PD. It was probably after midnight and I kept getting goosebups but I ignored it coz I’m thinking, ‘maybe it’s the fan’. But then out of the blue I saw this white image passed outside my kitchen window. It was so fast..like a swoosh!! There were times when people do use that back lane but very rarely and at the middle of the night??! I guess the scariest part was not hearing any footsteps. But I could be tired and it was probably my imagination but it did make me leave whatever I was doing and run upstairs. I asked my sister to accompany me so that I could clean up and went to bed.

The next day, I woke up at 5.30 a.m. to prepare the meals for PD. My nasi was lembik but I insisted on making the nasi goreng coz I dont wanna waste it. Rafiq fried the chicken and nuggets and my sisters made sardine and tuna sandwiches. We left the house at about 7.45 a.m. and luckily our journey was smooth..no jams..YIPPEE!! Reached PD at about 9 a.m and at that time Faiq dah terketaq-ketaq nak mandi laut. Rafiq looked after our spot whilst Faiq, me and my sisters main pasir. Lachik, Imran, Adam, Dik and Jemi arrived at about 10.30 a.m. and I took over the guard role. I let Faiq played until about 11.30 a.m. and cleaned him. My brother, Eyda, Feera and Farina arrived at 1 p.m. with nasi lemak. I ate while Rafiq berendam dalam laut with Dik and Jemi. I asked my siblings and brother in-laws to taste my nasi goreng lembik and we all had a good laugh but what touched me the most was when Lachik told me that Adam had a second helping of my nasi goreng lembik. Hehehe..ala bila dah lapar tuh belasah jer lar kan..and Adam pun jenis yang tak choosy about food but at least the amount I brought back home is not the same as the one brought to PD. We left PD at about 2 p.m. and sent my siblings back to D.U. Didn’t stay too long because I left my clothes to dry outside and it looked like it’s going to rain. Luckily we made it to AD just before the rain started. Faiq slept early as he was dead tired of his sand and sea adventure but dia banyak mengigau throughout the night. We had maggi mee for dinner after which Rafiq went out to meet his friend so I did a li’l bit of tidying up and ironing whilst waiting for Star Wars Episode 2. But I didnt get to watch it much coz Faiq kept mengigau’ing’ so I thought oh well, I’ll go to bed then.

The next day, it was spring cleaning day for me as I haven’t had the time to clean my house on weekdays. Swept and mopped the whole house and cleaned toilet. I am content coz my house is clean, YEAY!! At 11 a.m., we left for Dadima’s house coz Jan nak belanja family sebab dia dapat bonus so we feasted on salad, chicken chop, mashed potatoes and loads of other goodies. Yum, yum!! Tuh pun didn’t stay long coz my uncle was coming over as he and his family has yet to visit our new home. Went to Econsave to buy my fried macaroni ingredients whilst rafiq went to get satay. When I reached home, I realised that I forgot to buy tomato puree…damn..so gotta go out again. My fried macaroni jadi but was a bit dry. There’s room for improvements. Uncle Jan, Aunty Wan, Shahiran and Nisa came at about 6 p.m. and Faiq was cheerful as always when there are loads of other people in the house. Aunty Wan brought a gift, which was indeed much needed in our somewhat incomplete house when in comes to serving dishes and pinggan mangkuk. Thanks aunty Wan!! They left at about 8 p.m. It was indeed an eventful weekend!!
