I Need A Moment To Deliberate

This entry is two months late coz I’ve been extremely busy!!

Day

1: 14

May 2006

Today will be the day all of us, DPA 1/2005 participants of Sidang C & D will be handed over to our respective foster parents. Sidang C will be heading to Tumpat and the destination for Sidang D is Pasir Mas. You can actually sense the nervousness in everyone. Mana tak nervous..we will be staying with a family we never met, let alone knew for the next 10 days!! All of us are praying that we will get foster parents yang best so that our stay in Tumpat will be sweet and memorable.

We were still fine until the bus slowed down. OMG, everyone thought. This is it. We waited nervously. Then we were seated according to the DUN we will be placed. Thank God I have most of my close friends with me. We were then served lunch. I am sure at the back of our heads we were all thinking, “Is this my foster mom/dad?” It was then the moment of truth, acara penyerahan anak angkat kepada keluarga angkat. The waiting was definitely agony..me being one of the last few to be called. Met my foster dad and my home for the next 10 days will be in Kampung Jal Kecil. Frust jugak because no one is in the same kampung with me. One part over, after the ceremony..it will be a greater challenge, the “getting-to-know me, getting-to-know-you part!” Are they able to accept me? Am I a burden to them? Tak kisah la tu semua since I will be with them, I might as well tried to get acquainted. I asked them how do I address them and they say just call them Ma and Ayah. So I chatted with them in the car..mostly about our families, my job etc. I am also the only child in the house coz all of my foster parents children are working in other states so kena laa ada bahan nak borak. So far so good. Bila sampai rumah, I was shown to my room. Lepak for a while, mandi pastuh tolong prepare dinner. After dinner, tengok tv jap pastuh tido.

2: 15

May 2006

I woke up at

6.45 a.m.

today after sleeping like a log. I didn’t sleep immediately..tossed and turned for maybe about ½ hour before dozing off. After performing Subuh prayers I slept again for maybe ½ hour befor going out. Masa tu, Ma was sweeping the floor. She told me that Ayah went to buy kuih and nasi berlauk. He came back but he didn’t join us for breakfast coz Ma says he always eats with his friends. I expected him to come back so I did not tell him that I have to go to the Y.B’s office at

10 a.m.

I think I didn’t want them to think that I was eager to go out. After breakfast, we sat at the porch and sembang.

Ma told me about her grandchildren. She has 5 grandsons and a granddaughter. Her eldest grandson stayed with her for 5 years..sampai sekarang manja dengan Ma (reminds me of Imran). He is 11 years old tapi makan nak Ma suap, bila tido ramai2 tak bagi Ma face his brothers, suruh Ma tunggu dia mandi..manja kededek la!! He told Ma and Ayah that he wants to study hard for UPSR so that he can apply for a boarding school in Kelantan.

Ma is the type yang duduk merenung jauh or just jalan-jalan around the house when Ayah is out. I dunno if she didn’t do other work because she wanted to accompany me but she told me that’s what she does everyday. I also got to know that Ma and Ayah are no stranger to anak angkat programs. I think I’m the third probably and dia pernah ada as much as 11 people staying at her house coz some kids do not wanna stay with their own foster parents. Pastuh she told me that kat kampong ni ada 2 orang gila..sorang lelaki and sorang perempuan. Yang perempuan tuh tak kacau orang, yang lelaki tuh jenis kejar perempuan sampai ada budak perempuan from the previous anak angkat program jatuh berdarah-darah sebab melarikan diri from him. His latest trick was angkat kain perempuan yang tengah cakap kat public phone sambil kendong anak. She was shocked sampai terjatuh anak dia.

Lepas borak and when it seems as if I won’t be attending the meeting, I tolong Ma masak. Today’s menu is masak lemak ikan haruan, daging goreng, telur goreng budu. Their budu is the original budu that doesn’t have colouring..yang kaler kelabu tuh.

I ended up going to the meeting at

2.30 p.m.

There were around 15 people there..yang lain dah balik before lunch. The programs that we plan to hold are sukaneka and gotong royong on Friday and Saturday and program motivasi dan kerjaya for form 6 students at Sekolah Menengah Chabang Empat on Monday. We are all going to be facilitators.

The meeting ended about

4 p.m.

Masa balik tuh, Khai tumpang balik so I pergilah bertandang ke rumah bapak angkat dia, Pak Mat Puyoh who is the penghulu Chabang Empat. Makan and minum petang kat

(keropok lekor Terengganu..yummy) pastuh balik. Borak lagi dengan Ma then mandi. It started raining at around

5.45 p.m.

Ayah said it’s odd coz it’s supposed to be kemarau now.

Pastuh before maghrib, I tolong Ma goreng sayur. Pastuh before dinner Ma kopek durian yang Ayah bawak siang tadi. So yummy one!! Tengok berita dengan Ma and Ayah pastuh dinner. I didn’t wanna watch the tv so I just stayed in my room until I fell asleep.

3: 16

May 2006

Woke up late for Subuh prayer this morning..so after that terus bangun and prepare minum pagi while tunggu Ayah balik dari beli breakfast. I ate nasi berlauk again pastuh terus mandi to get ready to go to Pejabat YB. Today ada presentation by YB Wakaf Bharu. YB tengah cakap kat depan, Ida and I dok pass notes (Ehem, ehem!). Lepas tuh Pusat Khidmat Rakyat tuh jamu kami dengan kuih akok, kuih bakar, karipap and teh o. Pastuh kitaorang gi lunch. Balik tuh lepak lagi kat Pejabat YB while tengok gambar kawen Lily and gambar anak dia dalam laptop. Kul 4 tuh tumpang balik Nisha sebab bapak angkat dia tinggal tak jauh dari rumah Ayah and diaorg tuh sedara. Sebelum tuh ayah angkat dia singgah beli kuih so I bought lompat tikam. I also singgah kat rumah Nisha and berkenalan dengan her foster sibling, one whose name is Faiq :o) Masa kat rumah Nisha tetiba start ribut and hujan lebat so takde electricity. Sampai I balik umah Ayah, still takde jugak until about 7. Petang nih Ma buat buah Melaka. Lepas solat Maghrib, I tolong Ma goreng ikan. Lepas dinner ayah keluar so I teman Ma tengok Misi XX-Ray. Lepas dengar gossip-gossip pasal kampong tuh, I went off to bed.

I only wrote this entry on the fifth day sebab semalam black out since

9.30 p.m.

On this day we had to go to Kota Bharu to Jabatan Pembangunan Persekutuan Kelantan which was situated opposite the hotel which I stayed in last Saturday. INTAN reps informed us of this before penyerahan to our foster parents. We had a briefing by JPPK pastuh presentation of our program. So far semua programs for DUN Wakaf Bharu were approved. Pastuh it was shopping time. I, Afeefa, Nik Syahida and Masni had lunch at Pusat Kraftangan. Pastuh Afeefa bawak kitaorang to MPKB. She said that the things sold there are much cheaper than the ones sold at Pasar Siti Khadijah. Bermula laa era pembaziran. But I think I was happy with my purchases. Kitaorang balik kul 7. I sempat bodek Ma (sebab balik lambat)..beli kain untuk dia. Senyum lebaq sampai ke telinga, habaq hang!! Lepas dinner, tengah syiok I dok layan Gerak Khas :op tetiba black out. Sampai kul 5 pagi!! DUGAAN…

5: 18

May 2006

Tak sangka hari nih dah hari Khamis!! Yippee!! Seminggu lagi nak balik. Pagi tadi keluar rumah awal. Sebelum tuh breakfast pengat durian (semalam tak sempat makan sebab kekenyangan) pastuh dengar Ma gossip lagi. Pastuh pegi rumah neighbour dia yang tailor tuh. Hantar 2 pasang kain. Kalau molek boleh hantar lagi ke dia. She promised to sew it by Sunday because she will be going to Besut on Monday. Pastuh Ayah hantar I gi rumah family angkat Majid. Majid’s house is near mine (actually not so near but the nearest) so Ayah asked me to get a ride from him from now on. We went to Y.B’s office to discuss about tomorrow’s program. I haven’t even started finding sources for my assignment..YIKES!! Have to do so by this week. Spent the whole day at PKR Wakaf Bharu. I was supposed to go to Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah but I had to postponed because the officer in-charge was not around. As usual, I went to sleep after dinner.
