Happy New Year 2006

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

Wow, I can’t believe a whole year has passed so quickly right under my nose!! What a year it has been! Started off with me starting a new job, my pregnancy, paying for my very own house, my thrice a month visit to Putrajaya clinic and hospital, my hand being casted coz I turned the door knob too hard (yeah, this kinda incident happens to ONLY ME!!), moving out, purchasing my own car, the birth of my li’l munchkin, my confinement and maternity leave, celebrating raya with a family of my own, moving back in again and to end the year I just came back from the best ever holiday :o)

Goodbye 2005!! It’s been an eventful year indeed. Hoping that 2006 will be a better and may Allah bless my family with good health and happiness, insya-Allah :o)

The Sunday When Every Activity Was Dropped and They All Played Monopoly

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

For her 28th Birthday, Jan requested for scrabble or monopoly as a birthday gift from a friend and she got what she wanted. Not only it was Monopoly but it was the Star Wars Saga edition. She got it on Saturday and on Sunday, they were all set to play Monopoly. First Jan, Dik, Jemi and my husband played two games which started at around 11 a.m. When I left for Bt. 9, Dik, Jemi and my husband were still playing. It stopped for a while before Lachik and family came back from P.D. and joined in the fun :o) It’s amazing how board games can bring families together. Despite all the sophisticated computer games introduced everyday, board games as simple as snake and ladder are still the best!!

My Cherie Amour

Monday, December 19th, 2005

This number by Stevie Wonder is my all time favourite. Played this song over and over again at my office today. Re-discovered this song after hearing Travis Tucker sang it on American Idol 4.

My Cherie Amour

La la la la la la
La la la la la la

My Cherie Amour, lovely as a summer’s day
My Cherie Amour, distant as the Milky Way
My Cherie Amour, pretty little one that I adore
You’re the only girl my heart beats for
How I wish that you were mine

In a cafe or sometimes on a crowded street
I’ve been near you, but you never notice me
My Cherie Amour, won’t you tell me how could you ignore
That behind that little smile I wore
How I wish that you were mine

Maybe someday you’ll see my face among the crowd
Maybe someday I’ll share your little distant cloud
Oh, Cherie Amour, pretty little one that I adore
You’re the only girl my heart beats for
How I wish that you were mine

La la la la la la
La la la la la la

Grrrrr!!!

I was travelling via LRT this morning and most of the time it’ll get me all worked up. It’ll spoil my mornings. Why? Because some people still refuse to give up their seats to the elderly and disabled!!

Forget the Budi Bahasa campaignand the advert which featured Adlin Aman Ramlee, can’t these people read, "THESE SEATS ARE RESERVED FOR THE ELDERLY, PREGNANT LADIES AND DISABLED. AREN’T WE COURTEOUS?" OBVIOUSLY NOT!!

So what if your destination is Terminal Putra and you boarded the LRT from Kelana Jaya?! For God’s sake, you people are young and healthy and granted with strong legs!! Those who are standing are somebody’s parents and they could be yours! How would you feel if it happen to your parents?!

You know the saying, what goes around comes around. One day, the same thing might happen to your parents o even you when you are older and when that happens don’t go around complaining about others’ attitude!!

I feel better already ;op

Happy Birthday, Anne Shirley

Tuesday, December 13th, 2005

It was November 2000. My Advanced Diploma clases had recently started. Since our actual class was under renovation, our lessons were conducted at Pusat Inovasi. She was with her group of friends and they were singing Matchbox 20’s If You’re Gone. At that moment, I knew that Jan and I could be good friends.

I got to know Jan better coz she always hung out at my firm/group because two of her housemates are my group mate. From there, I found out that we have so much things in common. We are both bookworms where storybooks are concerned, we are both movie buffs who are suckers for romantic movies (she knew about The Truth About Cats & Dogs), she watched most of the sitcoms I watched since the 80’s and she is mad about music. We would sing songs which goes way back in the 80s to the latest in the music scene.

During our second semester, we became closer because I would spend the night at her house in Shah Alam to finish group assignments or to borrow her printer (to print an assignment which is due that morning..me being a last minute person!) She’d tell me about her family whose names I knew by heart, how she dotes on her nephews and niece and update me on her third brother’s relationship with someone who loves books as much as she does (Cheychey and Kak Ida’s courtship ended with their union as husband and wife). Perhaps it was fate, I had her as my mentee when we played the mentor-mentee game. She introduced me to Living Cabin where I happily spent my allowance on cute letter sets which we both love to collect. It didn’t go to waste coz on top of meeting in class, we would also write to each other. We called ourselves Anne Shirley and Diana Barry, the characters in one of our favourite books, Anne of Green Gables.

We maintained our close relationship even after we graduated. It was because of her I applied at the firm which I did my chambering and subsequently worked. We both chose dock brief as our legal aid program and got to be on duty on the same day. At night, we would call each other and talk for hours. I’d go to her house for kenduri, watched dvds and go out on weekends. We had a wonderful time at The Corrs concert, singing almost all of their songs at the top of our voices and shouting, "JIM, I LOVE YOU!!" ;op

We were called to the Bar on the same day. My grandmother commented that we looked like sisters. When we look at the picture, my God, we do look alike!!

In Jan’s Friendster Photo Album, there’s a photo which was captioned that she and I have a unique relationship. A few days ago, I celebrated her birthday not only as her bestfriend but also as her sister in-law. Isn’t it every bestfriend’s dream that they’d be bestfriends for life? Who would’ve imagined that we would eventually become family? Who would’ve thought that she would be an aunt to my children? Isn’t it amazing that the babies whose cukur jambul kenduris I attended are calling me Mami Yong? It is indeed the most surreal thing :o)
